How we work.
Practical examples.
Are you not yet sure whether Orbis is the right service provider for you? Read here about the challenges we have risen to, and make your decision then.
The challenge:
Saturday evening, 10 p.m. The video recording of a half-hour English speech given at the opening of an international genetic engineering congress arrives by courier from Helsinki. The speech must be translated into German and published in the Internet by 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
The solution:
Orbis specialists begin transcribing the speech that same evening. It consists of approximately 1000 standard lines. Translators and proofreaders with experience in this area are alerted, deadlines set, web specialists informed. The job is under way. Monday morning 7.15 a.m: the speech can be accessed from the Internet in PDF format and as an HTML file.
The challenge:
The half-year report of a financial services provider listed on the stock exchange has just been finished: 160 pages of business German, 5600 standard lines. The stock exchange’s deadlines are inflexible. In five days, the text must be available in English and have been approved by the auditors.
The solution:
ORBIS immediately alerts a team consisting of several specialist translators. The extensive text is divided up, the individual sections are translated in parallel. Highly specialized proofreaders reassemble the text. Ensure that there are no errors and that the style is consistent. The auditors receive the complete document within three days.
The challenge:
A 30-page PowerPoint file, approx. 900 standard lines, the advertising concept of a German agency for the local market, sparkling with humour, irony and zeitgeist aimed at the target group. The French client wants to adopt the concept in French. The decision-makers are travelling from Paris expressly for this purpose.
The solution:
Orbis puts together a bi-national team. German and French translators experienced in compiling advertising copy together ensure that word plays and idioms do not lose their impact in the French presentation.
The challenge:
A German automobile supplier is expecting a works visit from a group of 10 Japanese visitors. After a 6-hour tour of the works, the program includes lunch and a 2 hour city tour. The day is to end in a relaxed manner in a beer garden.
The solution:
Orbis sends two German-Japanese escort translators who are well-versed in technical subjects and also ensure smooth communication in small talk situations. The German hosts and their Japanese visitors understand one another perfectly.
The challenge:
Three-day international forum of experts as part of a fashion show in Düsseldorf. An Italian shoe manufacturer is sending three high-ranking representatives. They must not miss a word.
The solution:
ORBIS alerts four German-Italian conference interpreters who are well-versed in this subject. The preparation of the terminology for this subject begins a whole day before the forum opens. The contributions to the forum are translated simultaneously: work requiring maximum concentration carried out in teams of two. A replacement team is always available to take over. Everything is understood.
